Attendees of the meeting between Vice Premier Ding Xuexiang and Hong Kong and Macao members of CPPCC relayed some of the vice premier's messages.
Ding urged Hong Kong to be bold and take advantage of the opportunities provided by the nation's 15th Five Year Plan.
Much of Vice Premier Ding Xuexiang's meeting with Hong Kong and Macao members of the CPPCC took place behind closed doors, with some participants subsequently relaying Ding's speech that focused on five points of hope.
They include Beijing's continual support for the governments of both Hong Kong and Macao to exercise effective governance and administration, as well as ensuring a smooth election for the Election Committee this year.
The central government's support for Hong Kong's prosperous development, financial stability and the speeding up of the Northern Metropolis development.
Ding said the project should become a hub for innovation and talent, and a place that collectively develops traditional, advanced and future industries.
Ding also emphasised the necessity of ensuring national security, strengthen patriotic elements and love for Hong Kong and Macao, and for Hong Kong to grasp the opportunities of the 15th Five Year Plan.
The vice premier also mentioned the national security case of former media mogul Jimmy Lai, and last year's tragic No.5 alarm fire at Tai Po's Wang Fuk Court.
The vice premier affirmed the Hong Kong government's work on handling the aftermath of the devastating blaze, and stressed the need to strictly tackle national security risks.
Some CPPCC members shared their thoughts on the vice premier's message.
So Cheung-wing said the vice premier reminded them to view Hong Kong's development from the nation's perspective, and to focus on the city's contribution to the nation's overall development.
