Secretary for Labour and Welfare Chris Sun said authorities have offered special arrangements for foreign domestic helpers whose employment contracts have been terminated because of the Tai Po Fire.
On social media, Sun said the affected foreign domestic helpers are allowed to stay in Hong Kong for three months as visitors to find new employers, without having to return to their home countries. He said the Immigration Department will waive the relevant fees for their extension of stay.
Sun added that authorities have distributed a subsidy of 20,000 dollars to 110 Wang Fuk Court helpers.
