It has been more than one month since the deadly blaze broke out at Wang Fuk Court. The government is still mapping out how best to use the support fund.
Currently, the Wang Fuk Court casualty inquiry hotline operates on a daily basis from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m.
Starting tomorrow, the new service hours will be 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday to Friday, except public holidays.
The force explained that the adjustment was made in view of the demand for the service.
As of now, the fire has resulted in at least 161 deaths, and DNA forensic work is still ongoing.
Meanwhile, the support fund for Wang Fuk Court has accumulated a total of 4.1 billion dollars.
Ho Kai-ming, under Secretary for Labour and Welfare stated that approximately 1.2 billion dollars has been handed out to affected residents.
He said this included helping them find new homes.
Meeting the press in an event this morning, Ho said the government is still mapping out how best to use the support fund.
He also urged property owners not to take advantage of this situation to inflate home prices, describing this is not something Hong Kong people would like to see.
